No. 232 - 22 March

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week, our assembly theme has been looking at whether we need “stuff” to feel rich. I was so encouraged that from the youngest to the oldest children, there is an understanding that the best things in life aren’t bought with money. So many children were able to explain that they feel rich when they’re loved, when they experience joy, when they spend time with their family and when they notice the beauty of the world around them. It was great to be reminded of this important fact of life! And we’ve all enjoyed living our school value of “seeing Heaven in the moment”.

Two events this week brought me great joy – the first was the annual Guildford Primary Music Festival at GLive. We were thrilled to be taking so many of the junior school to take part and I want to thank them all! The orchestra played so well and showcased some amazing musical expertise. They played a range of pieces, but my favourite was an impressive arrangement of a shark-themed medley, arranged and conducted by our very own Lilja Helgadottir. It took the audience through a whole range of emotions from terror to hilarity as we moved from Jaws to Baby Shark! It was great fun. This was followed by an exuberant and polished performance from a 300-strong choir with children coming from eleven different schools. What a delight to see their smiling faces and to be so impacted by their enthusiastic singing. It’ll be an event that I will miss hugely next year – it was real gold!

And then, just yesterday it was the final Y5 and Y6 cross-county run of the season which took place on Pewley Downs. It was excellent to see so many children out in the Spring sunshine being cheered on by their loyal family fan clubs! With Holy Trinity winning the trophy for the boys and the girls combined scores, we had plenty to smile about. Again, real gold.

As we arrive at the final week of the Spring Term, I have an update from our chairs of governors:

Dear Parents and Carers,

As you are aware, governors have been working on recruitment of a new headteacher for the school for September following Clare's departure in July.

We are pleased to say that several applications were received for the post, and four have been shortlisted to attend interviews on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

We will be announcing the outcome of the interviews as soon as we can. In the meantime, we wish you and your families a very Happy Easter.

Deborah & Helen

If you would like to join me in praying for this important moment in the school’s future, please do ask God for His guidance and wisdom. I’m trusting Him to spotlight the right person – it really is the best job in the world and it would be so good to know that the baton will pass to the right person!

Also next week, we’ll be celebrating Easter and the end of another successful term. Feel free to join us at Holy Trinity Church for a whole school service. We’ll be walking down at 9.15 on Wednesday – do let your child’s classteacher know if you can help out.

Remember that we finish for the Easter break at 1.30pm PD/ 1.45pm HT next Thursday 28th and we return for the summer term on Monday 15th April. We’ll publish a short newsletter next Thursday with any final notices before we break up for the holidays.

For those of you that are quizzing this weekend, good luck! Thanks to HTSC and FOPS for what promises to be two super events; I’m afraid I won’t be there but I know the staff team is looking forward to the competition!

With much love,

Clare
