Dear Parents and Carers, 

We have had a lovely week immersing ourselves in the Race to the Pole. Ask your child to tell you all about the victory of Roald Amundsen and the tragic demise of Robert Falcon Scott!

English

This week, we have been applying our knowledge of journalistic writing to our history investigation, as we prepare newspaper reports on the Race to the Pole. 

We have imagined it is 1913, and word has just reached Britain that Captain Scott’s team, and their valuable research, have been discovered in Antarctica. We have used our historical sources to help us write our reports.

Maths

We have taken a dive into fractions this week, starting with representing fractions graphically and comparing fractions with different denominators.

Homework

Spellings 

This week, we have been recapping the ‘air’ sound and how it is represented in letters. 

there, their, they’re, aware, compare, unbearable, elsewhere, heir, therefore, whereas.

Homework Project 

This is a gentle reminder that the children should be working on their Adaptations Project.  

They are due in on Monday 25 November.  

We are decreasing the homework each week. This week, there was no maths homework. The children should use this extra time to work on their projects.

Cardboard – Please send in any large cardboard boxes for play preparation. 

House X-Country – Next week, the children will be taking part in House X-Country and will need to be in their PE kit on Monday 25 November.
