Eco Schools

Holy Trinity

All of the school computers now have ECOSIA as their search engine – even the teacher ones!

Ecosia is a search engine based in Germany that donates 80% or more of its profits to non-profit organisations that focus on reforestation. It considers itself a social business and is CO₂-negative.

The children have been working so hard on their Eco challenges and their hard work has paid off as they have been awarded a silver award. Congratulations HTPD!

Pewley Down

The infant Eco team have been very busy at their meetings this term. They decided that they wanted to save water and electricity so we now have a light monitor for every class who checks that lights are switched off when everyone leaves the room. The children made posters which are displayed round school reminding everyone to recycle, switch off taps and lights as well as to pick up litter. The eco team thought we should check the pond so we cleaned it out and began to count the different types of creatures living in the pond. We have swept out the eco house, collected litter from round the school grounds and we plan to plant some vegetables. We have planted oyster mushroom seeds and are waiting for them to grow! We are going to make a wild flower garden to attract lots of insects as well as expanding the bug hotel. We have an action plan for the year which is displayed in school on the eco board. We are excited because we have achieved Bronze award so far this term and we have lots more eco plans!
