26 June 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a very long (if short) week in this exceptional heat, so I will keep this brief!

I would like to thank you all once again for your support, patience and flexibility over the past few days. I appreciate that the changing arrangements have presented real challenges for many families. Moving from the expectation of a normal week filled with exciting learning, trips, clubs and the Year 4 residential, to amended timings and the inevitable disappointment of cancelled activities, has required everyone to adapt at very short notice.

I am particularly mindful that changes to routine can be unsettling for some children and families, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your understanding. Despite the extreme heat, as well as later nights and disrupted sleep, the children have been absolutely brilliant throughout. They have shown resilience, positivity and kindness, and I am incredibly proud of them all.

I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our amazing staff team for the dedication, flexibility and care they have shown in what have been very challenging working conditions. Keeping cool at home is hard enough, let alone caring for classes of 30+ hot and tired children. As always, the team have worked together, adapting teaching spaces and approaching learning creatively.

A particular thank you to the Year 4 team, who responded so thoughtfully to the disappointing postponement of their residential and river trips. Their creative and engaging river-based learning has been a joy to see—the papier-mâché rivers are already looking fantastic (and at least they are drying quickly—every cloud!).

It looks as though next week will return to something more like ‘normal’—if such a thing exists in the summer term!

We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday. In the meantime, I hope you are able to keep cool over the weekend and catch up on some well‑deserved rest.

With thanks, as always, for your continued support,

Best wishes

Vicky
