19 June 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

The corridors of HT were filled with excitement today as we welcomed our new Year 3 children to the juniors. Our Year 2 pupils from Pewley were joined by children from local schools for an introductory visit. They enjoyed a tour of the school, time with the Year 3 teaching team and opportunities to play games and get to know one another. We very much look forward to welcoming them all back in September, when they will begin to learn more about our school values and House Heroes.

Year 1 have also made the most of our wonderful junior site this week, enjoying a special visit to the HT woods and field. They spent time exploring the meadow, carefully spotting the beautiful flora and fauna, before heading into the woods to hunt for different textures in nature. There was also plenty of excitement on the adventure trail, which the children thoroughly enjoyed.

Perhaps most special of all was the sense of looking ahead— the Year 1 children watching the older HT children playing on the pitch and beginning to imagine themselves there in just a few short years. It was a lovely moment of anticipation and belonging, as they began to learn to live confidently as part of our wider school community.

On Wednesday, Laura and Kayleigh took a group of Year 5 girls to Stoke Park for an exciting rugby festival. They were incredibly impressed by the enthusiasm and determination shown by all the girls, who fully embraced every activity and demonstrated our Learn to Live spirit while working alongside pupils from other schools. The girls enjoyed developing a range of rugby skills, with many particularly relishing the opportunity to dive into the tackle bags! A big thank you to Guildfordians Rugby and all the volunteers—especially the former HT pupils—for hosting such a fantastic event.

This is the final call for the Junior Natural Science House Photography Competition. Children are invited to take a high-quality photograph of something scientific in the natural world. If your child would like to participate, please send entries to laurah@htpd.surrey.sch.uk including their name, class and house team, along with a sentence explaining the science shown in the photo. The closing date is Friday 26 June.

With the warmer weather, our lost property pile is growing, as children shed layers and leave items around the school grounds. We do our best to reunite children with their belongings each week; however, this is only possible when items are clearly named. Please encourage your child to check lost property if anything is missing.

The Year 6 children have enjoyed a fantastic week in Shropshire, finishing with a much-anticipated visit to Cadbury World on their journey back to Guildford. We have already received some wonderful reports about their behaviour and the way they represented the school. We very much look forward to welcoming them back later this afternoon and hearing all about their adventures.

Next week is forecast to be particularly hot. Please ensure your child arrives at school with sunscreen already applied and brings a named water bottle and sun hat. We will adapt our timetables and activities as needed to ensure the children remain safe and comfortable. Children may wear either their PE kit or school uniform next week, whichever they feel most comfortable and cool in.

A reminder that school is closed on Monday for the Midsummer Holiday. We hope you enjoy the glorious weather and look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday.

With best wishes,

Vicky

HTPD Sports Day Fundraiser, Thursday 2 July 2026

This year, instead of a Summer Fair or Fun Run, Friends of HTPD is supporting Sports Day as our main summer fundraising event. A huge thank you to Knight Frank, whose generous sponsorship has already contributed £500 towards our target.

Every child at HTPD takes part in sport through PE lessons, clubs, house competitions and inter-school fixtures. We are raising funds to help provide new sports equipment, team kits and resources for children across both schools.

Your donations will help fund:

Footballs and training equipment, Netballs and bibs, Hockey equipment, Cricket sets, Tennis equipment, Basketballs, Athletics equipment, Team kits, uniforms and House competition resources.

💙 Donate by clicking here ðŸ’™

The PTA will be providing Sports Day Refreshments for just £1 including tea and coffee, Donuts, Biscuits and Ice lollies

  • Pewley Down - 8.30am – 9.00am
  • Holy Trinity - 10.00am – 10.30am, 1.00pm – 1.30pm and 3.00pm – 3.40pm

We are aiming to raise £1,500 to support sport across Holy Trinity and Pewley Down.

Can’t attend Sports Day? You can still support our fundraising by making a donation through the link above. Every contribution helps us reach our target and invest in sport across both schools.
