12 December 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week, we shared the final part of David’s story, reflecting on his patience and trust in God — a timely reminder as we wait in hopeful expectation during Advent. We also lit the second candle on our Advent wreath, symbolizing Peace. Known as the Bethlehem Candle, it recalls Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem and reminds us that Jesus brings a peace that calms worries and brings people together.

In true HTPD style, we had a surprise visit from the Jolly Postman! Be sure to ask your children about this special guest as we continue the festive fun.

Robin Hood – Junior Play

Thank you for joining us in Sherwood Forest! What a fantastic show that got better and better with each performance, the children should be incredibly proud of themselves!

Through Robin Hood’s adventures, we saw bravery, kindness, and standing up for what’s right — sprinkled with fairy-tale magic and mischief! As we journey through Advent, we’re reminded of another story of hope and love: Christmas. Just as Robin Hood helped those in need, Christmas calls us to give, care, and share joy wherever we can.

Knock Knock! The Nativity

The infant children delighted us with their superb retelling of the Christmas story and the true meaning of Christmas — with a fun twist! From lively songs, stunning costumes, festive cheer and even Makaton, their hard work and enthusiasm shone through every moment. Thank you to everyone who supported them and helped make this celebration so special.

Year 5 Fire Safety Visit

Amid the festivities, Year 5 even squeezed in a visit from a member of the Surrey Fire Department. They learnt how, why and when they should be testing their smoke alarms (once a week!) and about the importance of creating fire safety plans at home. The children were also taught how to 'STOP, DROP and ROLL' or 'COVER to SMOTHER' in the case of clothing fires. We are very grateful to Julie for running these free sessions. The children have been issued a challenge to test their smoke alarms at home and return their forms as quickly as possible. I wonder which class will be first?

Christmas Assembly

We ended the week with our annual Junior Christmas Assembly — a joyful retelling of the Christmas story, sprinkled with staff entertainment (yes, I even dusted off my recorder!).

Upcoming Christmas Services

We look forward to welcoming you to our Christmas Church services next week:

  • Infants: Tuesday, 9:45 AM at St Mary’s Church

  • Juniors: Thursday, 9:45 AM at Holy Trinity Church

Until then, have a restful weekend before the final week of festive fun begins!
