Dear Parents and Carers
We hope you enjoyed the long weekend and the children had the opportunity to re-charge in the middle of the busy end of term.
Our week started with the much-anticipated District Sports at the Spectrum. Our junior children competed against four other local Guildford schools and did brilliantly. They represented the school so well, all tried their very best and were fabulous ambassadors for the school. We came an impressive joint first with Boxgrove, who will handover the trophy at Christmas. A huge well done to all of the children who took part, thank you parents for supporting and massive thank you to Laura Sutton for organising the whole event. We are super proud of everyone.
Year 6 are making the most of their last few weeks of primary school. They had a fantastic time at the Junior Citizens event, where they took part in a series of engaging and practical workshops designed to help them stay safe in everyday situations. Throughout the day, the children learned vital skills including how to stay safe around railways, how to keep themselves and others safe near water, and even had the opportunity to practise CPR. It was an exciting and informative experience that helped prepare them for greater independence and responsibility.
Year 4 have been having a wonderful time at High Ashurst, working in teams, challenging themselves on high ropes and orienteering their way around the site, before singing around the campfire and a night under canvas. We look forward to welcoming them back this afternoon to hear about the rest of their trip!
Next Thursday 3rd July, all children at HT have the opportunity to perform at our much anticipated House Music celebration. Children who would like to take part can sign up in school to perform either as a solo or as part of a duet or even a fully fledged band. They are welcome to sing or play an instrument. A lucky few will then be selected to perform in front of the whole school on Friday 4th July in the afternoon. If your child would like to take part, please encourage them to sign up. If they require a backing track for what they intend to perform, please send these to the house leaders by Wednesday.
House Leaders:
Keller - Nick Walker (nickw@htpd.surrey.sch.uk)
Nightingale - Helen Campbell (helenc@htpd.surrey.sch.uk)
Shackleton - Sarah Jackson (sarahj@htpd.surrey.sch.uk)

The infants are waiting in eager anticipation, their next house event will be announced next week!
The weeks are flying by! It was lovely to welcome so many of the new Year 3 parents to the juniors this week. There are lots of events you are very welcome to attend in the coming weeks. Please refer to the previously published summer term dates list.
It looks like another glorious weekend ahead and very hot temperatures next week. Please ensure your child brings a named hat and water bottle to school each day. In the meantime, stay safe in the heat and we look forward to seeing you on Monday.
Best wishes
Vicky
