Y2 JTLYK 23 May

Dear parents and carers,

We hope you all had a lovely week!

In maths this week, we continued our unit on fractions. We have understood the difference between unit and non–unit fractions. The children learnt that unit fractions have 1 as a numerator. We have also worked on finding out that 1/2 is equal to 2/4.

In English, we have continued our unit on writing letters. We planned, edited and published our letters ready to send to Australia. The children worked very hard to publish and focused really well on their presentation.

In PE, we continued our football skills unit and put all we have learnt into games. The children had a lot of fun playing mini matches and competing against each other to get the most goals.

In RE, we looked at how Muslims pray. The children designed prayer mats and explored how many times a day they pray and why.

In Computing, the children designed their own mats this week to use with the Beebots! They then had a go at creating routes and not running into dinosaurs as they programmed them. They also debugged the routes (not moving bugs but correcting errors in the programme!)

DT AFTER HALF TERM - Please can your child bring a soft toy in on Monday 2nd June, as we look at them to inspire our DT project. No toys will be harmed in the process!

Key Dates:

  • Half term – Monday 26th May – Friday 30th May
  • Summer Term 2 Starts – Monday 2nd June
  • Bring a soft toy for DT – Monday 2nd June

Tapestry: On 20th June, Year 2 children will no longer be on Tapestry as the new reception intake will need to be added instead. We will be uploading lots of photos from this year over the coming weeks, so if you would like any photos from their time at Pewley (YR and Y1 included), please download them before this date.

We will be sending out a video and some instructions detailing how photos can be downloaded as a PDF or a printable journal – so watch this space!
