Y5 JTLYK 23 May

Dear Parents and Carers,

Firstly, we would like to start with a huge thank-you to all the children for their fantastic attitudes and behaviour on our trip last week. They impressed us all, living out each and every one of our school values at every opportunity.

On this note we are keen to finalise the booking of our residential trips for next academic year. If you have not done so already, please could you take a minute to complete this short form to indicate your interest in the Year 6 trip.

This week, the children have settled back in and have enjoyed recounting tales of their favourite moments before rounding off the week with another brilliant FLUFFY Friday. In English, we are drawing closer to the end of our story and children have been creating a biography for Kensuke’s life. In maths, we have been reading a variety of tables and they were amazed by how many we use in our classroom already. In geography, we looked at coastal land features in more detail after seeing them in person last week.

Coming up:

On the first Wednesday after half term, we will be holding an informative chat with the children about staying safe and speaking out if they feel worried or unsafe. Please see the drop down section on the NSPCC Speak Out.

The following week, we will be covering our RSE topic by exploring the idea of puberty and the changes involved. A ParentMail has been sent containing more information, but please contact your child’s class teacher if you have any concerns.

NSPCC Speak out. Stay safe.

Dear Parent/Carer

NSPCC’s Speak out. Stay safe. Year 5 Wednesday afternoon June 4th 2025

We are pleased to inform you that we are participating in the NSPCC’s Speak out. Stay safe. Programme this term. Speak out. Stay safe. is a programme for children aged 5-11 which aims to help children understand abuse in all its forms and to recognise the signs of abuse. Children are taught to speak out if they are worried, either to a safe adult or Childline.

This child friendly programme is aligned with the curriculum and consists of an age appropriate virtual assembly and supporting classroom based discussion.  The content is delivered in an engaging and interactive way with the help of the NSPCC mascot Buddy.

Parents and carers are asked to let school know if their child may have experienced anything (in the past or happening now) which may mean they need extra support before, during or after taking part in this programme.

If you would like to know more about the Speak out. Stay safe. programme visit www.nspcc.org.uk/speakout
