Curriculum

Y3 JTLYK 16 May

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been another busy week in Year 3, with the children working hard on their letters. They are very excited about them, and we can’t wait to post them next week. The next fun part will be waiting to receive replies! If you could kindly ask the recipients of the letters to send their responses through the school, it adds to the excitement when an envelope appears on their desk. If you do receive any replies at home, please send them in with your child so we can share the news of what the flat evacuees have been up to.

A couple of reminders for next week:

Henley Fort Trip

  • 3AG – Monday
  • 3L – Tuesday
  • 3N – Thursday

Drop-off is between 9:00 and 9:15 at the turning circle on The Mount. Please avoid driving all the way to Henley Fort as the road has no passing places, which can cause traffic congestion. Pickup will also take place at the turning circle between 2:30 and 2:45. If possible, please consider lift sharing, and speak to your child’s class teacher if you encounter any issues.

Children should bring a packed lunch (no nuts, please) and wear comfortable clothes suitable for an active day.

Fluffy Friday is on the last day. Children do not need to wear uniform.

Spellings

This week we are looking at the phoneme /ay/ as in pay. Please do talk to your child about the meaning of these words and if you would like to adapt them too and practise easier spellings with the /ay/ phoneme, then please do!

Words for next week’s spelling:

Eight, became, holiday, obey, male, mail

Challenge: major, ashamed

3L swimming – summer term

Please remember to bring your swimming kit, including a swimming hat and make sure all your permissions are up to date with the office.

Key summer term dates and costs

We will be sending out a Parentmail today to make you aware of a change to the Sleepover meeting on the Wednesday 21st of May. This meeting will now start at 6.30pm. We apologise for any inconvenience this change may have caused you. Please have a look at the letter outlining further key summer term dates and costs for Year 3. Please do email your child’s class teacher if you are able to help on any of the trips.
