Y1 JTLYK 16 May

Dear parents and carers,

The highlight of our week was of course our trip to Wisely! It was such a busy, fun day and the children really enjoyed going on coaches, learning about plants, eating packed lunches and exploring the grounds. Half the day was spent with the Wisley staff team leading us in activities. The other half of the day we took the children for a scavenger hunt, to collect petals and leaves on sticky strips, and to do some drawings of nature. Thank you so much to everyone who helped out on the trip.

Our ‘Growing’ topic is coming to a close, however we will keep planting and gardening in summer term 2 during Discovery. So if you would like to donate any soil, bedding plants or shrubs, potatoes, or seeds for us to plant we would be very grateful!

In maths lessons we have continued with counting in 2s, 10s and 5s.  Please practice counting in 2s, 10s and 5s at home.

This week we have looked at finding and recognising half of a quantity.  We have drawn, coloured and folded shapes to find out whether both halves are the same.
