Y6 JTLYK 9 May
Dear Parents and Carers,
During our preparation for the upcoming SATs, the children have been focused and keen to do their best. We are very proud of their composure and determined attitude throughout all of our revision sessions.
We suggest a relaxed weekend and plenty of sleep over the week to come. By lunchtime on Thursday, it’ll all be over, and we can look forward to a day of fun at Horseshoe Lake on Friday!
Have a lovely weekend!
Danni, Jo, Kathryn, Julia, Tom and Mark.
History
This week, we began exploring the cottage industries that many families relied on in the 1750s to earn a little extra money for essentials like food and clothing. The children have been learning about traditional crafts such as straw weaving and rag weaving, and over the next few weeks, they'll have the chance to try these activities for themselves. It’s a welcome and enjoyable break from the intense revision they’ve been working so hard on!

Important Note:
Please email your child’s class teacher if your child is a non-swimmer or is likely to be nervous about the activities.
Homework
In the lead up to SATs, the children are continuing to work very hard at school! There are a number of ways to support your child at home too:
- Test spellings from the Year 5 & 6 spelling list that was sent home (you can also find this online) and discuss different rules.
- Revise maths using your child’s Maths Facts homework book and visit the Pie Corbett maths website (https://corbettmaths.com/5-a-day/primary/)
- Ask comprehension questions whilst reading with your child.
