PARENT HELPER REQUEST FOR CHESNUTS

Thank you to those who have volunteered to help on our trip into Guildford next week. Chesnut class still need a few more volunteers to help so that they can do the walk. If you are able to help please let Danielle know.

Dear parents and carers,

We hope you all had a lovely bank holiday weekend!

In maths this week, we continued our unit on fractions. We have understood how to find a ½ and the children have applied their understanding of dividing by 2 brilliantly. We have also recognised and found ¼ and we are able to answer a variety of questions about these fractions.

In English, the children have continued to use their facts about squirrels, foxes and hedgehogs to write about the animals diet, habitats and interesting facts. They have mastered their use of conjunctions such as; that, because and but and varied sentence openers brilliantly in their paragraphs. We have also had a go at using rhetorical questions and the suffixes ‘er’ and ‘est’ for comparison.

Our Geography lesson this week was creating a simple map and we saw lots of creative drawings of the spaces around the school. Hopefully any new visitors will be able to use them to help them find their way around.

In PE, we continued our football skills unit and practised passing the ball. The children had a lot of fun passing around and in and out of cones whilst avoiding each other. We also had a fantastic swimming session and the children are increasingly confident in the water which is fantastic to see.

In RE, we looked at the 99 names of Allah. The children noticed similarities between their special peoples descriptions and Allah's names. The children also learnt that Allah is not drawn in human form but through calligraphy and had a go at creating their own inspired artwork.

Reading reminder:

Please can the children’s book folders be brought into school each Thursday so that we can check who is reading at home and give out well earnt Dojo Points!  We will then return the folders with the children’s new books on Friday.

Unfortunately, we are still missing quite a few books from various sets which means we don’t have enough books for some of the groups. Please do have a look at home to see if you have any unreturned books lying around.

Thank you!

PE reminder:

PE has moved back to a Wednesday afternoon for both classes after the Easter Holidays. Please make sure PE kits come back into school as a lot of children didn’t have kits this week.
