Curriculum

Y1 JTLYK 9 May

Dear parents and carers,

Our ‘Growing’ topic is racing along and most of our seeds and beans are shooting up!  We are being scientists by observing, noticing, measuring and recording.  We are also planting and looking after flowers and plants in our outdoor areas. If you would like to donate any soil, bedding plants or shrubs, potatoes, or seeds for us to plant we would be very grateful!

In maths lessons we have continued with counting in 2s, 10s and 5s.  Please practice counting in 2s, 10s and 5s at home.

This week we have looked at half of a shape.  We have drawn, coloured and folded shapes to find out whether both halves are the same.

We are also learning all about position and direction – quarter turns, half turns, full turns, left and right.  The children have had great fun learning about turns and acting out turns themselves.
