Dear Parents and Carers, 

It has been wonderful to see so many of you at our recent Meet the Team evenings. I hope you enjoyed meeting your children's teaching staff and hearing about the exciting opportunities that lie ahead this year. Strong partnerships between home and school are so important, and these evenings provide a valuable opportunity to begin the year together. 

The term is already off to a flying start. Year 3 and Year 6 enjoyed their Buddy Day on the Downs on Monday, strengthening friendships and building our school community across the year groups. Today, Year 4 are visiting Buster Farm as part of their learning, while Year 5 are eagerly preparing for their postponed residential trip to High Ashurst next week. These experiences are such an important part of school life and help children grow in confidence, independence and resilience. 

Our school values have been the focus of assemblies this week. We believe it is important for all members of our community to understand how these values help us live out our vision of Learn to Live. Each day, we have explored one of our values and linked it to a Bible story, helping the children understand how these Christian principles can guide their daily lives. The children have also taken part in reflection activities linked to each value, considering what these might look like in their classrooms, playgrounds and homes. Do ask your children about what they have learnt and reflected on. I am sure they will have plenty to share! 

We also have some exciting staffing news to celebrate. During the summer holidays, Laura Morris welcomed baby Edward into the world. We send our warmest congratulations to her and her husband and wish them every happiness as they begin this exciting new chapter of family life. We would also like to congratulate Flora Bevan, who got married over the summer, and Scarlett Close on her recent engagement. We are delighted for them both and look forward to hearing more wedding news in due course! We have just heard the happy news from Catherine Finniear of the safe arrival of baby Elizabeth, we wish the whole family all the best. Finally, we are pleased to announce that Jo White is expecting her second child. We wish her a healthy and happy pregnancy and look forward to welcoming another baby into the HTPD family. 

Due to a couple of re-locations, we currently have one place available in Reception and one in Year 1 at the Infant School, as well as places in Year 3 at the Junior School. Such vacancies are unusual, so if you know of any families who may be looking for a place at a warm, welcoming and thriving school community, please do spread the word. We would be very grateful for your recommendation. 

As we look ahead to the rest of the autumn term, there is much to be excited about. Alongside the many trips, visits, sporting events and curriculum opportunities planned, we will continue to focus on nurturing happy, confident children who are ready to embrace new challenges, show kindness to others and make the most of every opportunity that comes their way.
