17 July 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a busy and wonderful week of celebration it has been!

On Thursday, our fantastic Year 6 pupils led a joyous Leavers’ Service at St Mary’s Church. The children took responsibility for every aspect of the service, from choosing the hymns and deciding how to present our school values, to creating reflective activities for parents, typing the order of service and producing a beautiful photo montage. It was a fitting demonstration of how they have truly Learned to Live throughout their time at HTPD. As always, the singing and music were outstanding - Dave even lost his seat at the piano when a year 6 child accompanied the group song, Count on Me!

Year 6 still have plenty to look forward to in their final days at HTPD, and I am looking forward to welcoming them back from their Trinity Trek later this afternoon, where they will be cooking their dinner on trangia stoves.

Today, we enjoyed a wonderful celebration of our Year 2 pupils at the Infants. The children reflected on their time at Pewley, sang their hearts out and demonstrated a real zest for learning and love of life in all that they shared. They are certainly ready for the next step in their journey as they move to the Juniors in September.

I hope you enjoyed reading your child’s report. Our teachers have worked incredibly hard to capture each child’s individual achievements, progress and contribution to school life, and I thank them for the care and thought they have put into these reports.

Next week is particularly busy, so please take a few moments to read your year group’s Just to let you to Know (JTLYK) for all the information you will need.

We are also looking forward to welcoming you to our Celebration Afternoon on Monday 20 July, when we will come together as a school community to mark another wonderful year at HTPD. We have brought together as many end-of-year opportunities as possible into one afternoon to reduce the need for multiple visits to school, and the timings have been carefully planned to support families with children on both sites.

At the Juniors, the afternoon will begin with a musical performance in the Arena from 1.15pm–2.00pm. The Year 6 Great Exhibition in the Chapel will officially open at 2.00pm, and classrooms will be open from 1.45pm for you to view your child’s work, discuss reports with teachers and visit next year’s classrooms.

At the Infants, classrooms will also be open from 1.45pm, giving families the opportunity to celebrate children’s learning, discuss reports with teachers, and visit their new classes.

Please feel free to join us at any point from 1.45pm until the end of the school day for this special afternoon as we celebrate the achievements, progress and learning that have taken place across HTPD this year.

A few final reminders for next week: there will be no after-school clubs during the final week of term. School finishes for the summer holidays on Wednesday 22 July, with an early finish of 1.15pm at the Infants and 1.30pm at the Juniors.

Thank you for your continued support. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

With best wishes,

Vicky
