Y3 JTLYK 2 May
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a beautiful, sunny week it has been! We have really enjoyed all the sunshine — it truly feels like summer has arrived. It has been great to see so many children getting involved in clubs this week. If you haven’t yet had a chance to look at the clubs list, please do — there are some fantastic opportunities available!
In class, we’ve been working hard as always. We have started diving into our History topic on World War II and Guildford. The children have explored the timeline of the war and learned about some of its key events. We are always mindful that WWII is an emotional and challenging subject, so we ensure the focus is on the experiences of children during the war and what life was like in Guildford at the time. We leave the more difficult content for when the children are older.
In Maths, we have continued exploring mass and capacity. The children have enjoyed using their own scales to compare the mass of different objects. We’ve also been working on adding the mass of one object to another and finding the difference in mass between two items. Please see below for examples of the types of questions we have been working on.
Upcoming Trip
On Thursday next week, we will be taking the children to Guildford High Street and Guildford Castle to see the flags being raised as part of the town’s celebrations marking 80 years since VE Day. We will be leaving school at 10:40am and returning in time for lunch at 12:00pm. If you are able to help with this trip, it would be greatly appreciated. Please let your class teacher know.
Best wishes,
The Year 3 Team
