YR JTLYK 2 May
Dear Parents,
We have had a great week in school. This week we all planted a seed and discussed what a seed needs in order to grow. Over the next few weeks we will be carefully looking after and waiting for any signs of germination. We have been learning about and labelling the different parts of a plant.
Last Friday your child went home with a letter about our trip to the Look Out Centre in Bracknell. Unfortunately, there was an error in the letter. We are going on Tuesday 1st July. If you are able to join us on this trip please let Beccy or Hayley know. Thank you!
The sun is beginning to warm us all up and we’re so happy that we can be outside without our jumpers on. Please make sure that jumpers have names in them! It is also a good idea to make sure that your child has sun cream on in the morning before coming to school and comes in with a named sun hat.
Phonics
We have learnt 4 new tricky words this week. They are: like, some, come, love, and do. We have sent home a sheet of the new words we have covered. Please practise these at home. You could make the words in sand or shaving foam using a paintbrush or your finger. You could hide the words around the house or outside and go on a tricky word hunt. Please continue to practise all the phonemes.
Dates for your diary

Stay and Play
On Friday 16th May it’s ‘Stay and Play’. Parents are invited to come and play in Reception with their child from 2pm. If you can’t make it yourself feel free to invite grandparents/other relatives instead. We look forward to seeing you.
Baby Photos…a reminder
This term we are learning all about Growing. This weekend, we’d love you to have a look for a baby photo of your child that they can bring into school or email Beccy/Hayley so we can print them out. Over the next few weeks, we’re going to be thinking about how we’ve grown and changed as we’ve got older.
Things we need …
We now have a planting station outside. If you have any spare peat-free compost or seedlings we would be very grateful to receive them. Thank you so much!
Have a lovely weekend and bank holiday Monday, see you on Tuesday.
Best wishes,
The Reception team.
