Y4 JTLYK 4 April

What a great final week of term in Year 4!

We were so delighted with the children’s ‘Crazy Inventions’, so thank you for all your support at home! Monday afternoon was such a brilliant event for them to showcase their innovative ideas - thank you for coming along.

On Tuesday, we held our ‘Pause Day’ when we take time out of our curriculum to learn and ponder the meaning of Easter. The children experienced ‘Holy Week’ in the form of a very long picture mat in the Chapel which takes us through the events from Palm Sunday to the Last Supper, the Crucifixion and finally the good news of Easter Sunday when Jesus’ disciples discovered that He had risen.

Yesterday we continued our Easter study by sequencing the timeline of events, so that the children understand the real story of what happened. We also looked at evidence for Jesus’ death and resurrection as written in the gospels but also in the writings of the Roman historians Tacitus and Flavius Josephus. We used our historical skills of ‘using evidence to communicate’ to ‘interpret the evidence’ that we had found, to answer questions about why these records are so important for Christians. The children were fascinated to find similarities and differences in the gospel passages, with the recounts of Easter morning.

Have a safe and happy Easter! See you on Wednesday 23 April.

Blue Bell Woods walk on Thursday 24 April

We are walking to the Chantries to visit the Blue Bells on Thursday morning 24th April, as a way to introduce our plant study. We would love some volunteers to accompany us! We will leave school about 9 am and return for lunch at 12. Please let either Sheena or Sarah know if you are able to come – thank you.
