The School Games Mark is a Government-led awards scheme to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.

Holy Trinity applied for the School Games Mark because:

* We can use it as a stimulus for best practice, developing all areas of sport in school, celebrating what we do well and targeting what we would like to do better.

* It provides an external measure of our success which OFSTED would recognise as part of their inspection framework.

Why have we been awarded Gold?

* 74% of Holy Trinity children enjoy one or more of the free sports clubs offered as an extracurricular sporting activity every week

* In PE lessons we have a dedicated member of staff running the Change4Life programme

* We have a Year 6 School Sport Crew in place who help to run sports activities such as Sports Relief and running various sporty events at lunch break

* We have organized and taken children to inter-school competitions in 16 different sports across all year groups

* We have organized and taken children to external competitions in 14 different sports across all year groups

* We have taken B teams to external competitions in 7 different sports

* We have taken C teams to external competitions in 4 different sports

* We keep a “gifted and talented” register to offer talented young sports people specific support to help them to develop their sporting potential. We encourage children to take part in the National Biathlon and the Surrey Schools Annual Cross Country Competition

* We feature match reports and competition results on the school website, Twitter, the local press and our sports board

* We have links with over 8 local sports clubs

What did the panel of official judges say about us? :

Holy Trinity does a tremendous job of promoting sport and physical activity. They have a varied array of extra-curricular opportunities for their pupils which lead into many district competitions with additional opportunities for B & C teams. They do well involving and promoting their sports leaders across various aspects of school life and have embraced Twitter (with a personalised sport page) which has proved a fantastic way of reporting match results, club links and events. A very well deserved Gold award, well done, Ally.
