Here are some excellent ways for you to get ready for your run:

Guildford junior parkrun
Every Sunday morning at 9.30 in Stoke Park there is a 2k parkrun for 4 to 14-year olds. It’s a fun and friendly event and more info can be found here: http://www.parkrun.org.uk/guildford-juniors. Remember to register first to get your barcode so you can record your achievements.

Guildford parkrun
These take part in Stoke Park every Saturday, starting promptly at 9am and are 5k. Register on the parkrun website https://www.parkrun.org.uk before you go to print off your barcode and then turn up and take part! Note that under 11’s can take part as long as they stay close to the adult who is looking after them.

We look forward to seeing you there and best regards from all of the team.

FAQ’s:

  • How do we get there? We recommend walking or cycling where possible. The no. 36 bus from town stops next to the park on London Road. There is a car park next to the park off the Clay Lane roundabout near the turning to the Sainsbury’s in Burpham.
  • Is the event only open to children from Pewley Down or Holy Trinity? The event is open to other children, they will need to register through the online form.
  • Are only parents/carers of children at the school allowed to do the 5k race? Older siblings who have left the school or other adults are welcome to register and take part.
  • Will there be course marshals? Yes, there will be marshals around the route to encourage runners and look out for anyone who needs help.
  • Will there be any teachers at the event? Yes, some teachers will be attending.
  • What do the participants get? All participants get a race number and a medal and a goodie bag.
  • Will there be food and drinks available in the park? The plan is to have drinks and snacks/cakes/lollies on sale and we’ll confirm more information closer to the event.
  • Can we bring games down to play after? Yes! Games of football were breaking out last year in the sun. Bring a ball, a cricket set, a rounders bat and ball or whatever you fancy and make an afternoon of it.
  • Why has the adults run increased to £15? This is due to the cost of the t-shirts. The adult’s t-shirts are more expensive and incur VAT, which the children’s t-shirts do not. But adults can select not to have a t-shirt and the price is £10 which means more money will go to the school.
  • Is first aid available? Yes, the St John Ambulance team will once again be on hand to provide any first aid support
  • Can I run with my child? Yes, if you want to run part or all of the way with your child you can do this.
